The best post-run sandals EVER!

I am a runner.

It’s taken me a while to get to the point that I take myself seriously enough to say that.  I tend to be a “middle of the pack” kind of gal, usually placing somewhere in the top half of women my age.  I sometimes brag about the one trail marathon where I earned a 2nd place medal!  (Okay, I admit, there were only four of us in my age/gender bracket).   But what I lack for in speed, I make up for in persistence.  In the last 8 years, I’ve participated in over 40 running events, 13 of which were marathons and six that were 200-mile relays.  (And at least one that I got to run with one of my favorite rockers!)

Me and Alanis Morissette (it was her first marathon).

Me and Alanis Morissette (it was her first marathon).

So, suffice it to say, I’ve covered a few miles in my running shoes.

I love my running shoes.  I’ve been wearing mostly Brooks Adrenaline GTS’ during my running “career” with an experimental K-Swiss, Nike, and other Brooks model thrown in here and there.

But, I also love taking off my running shoes at the end of a run and slipping into something that helps provide a fast recovery for my feet.  It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that my very favorite post-running sandals are from California Footwear Co.  Our Beach/Spa collection is made of a super soft ergonomic EVA footbed that cradles the foot and allows the toes to spread out while supporting even my (very high) arches.  They also have over 150 reflexology-type bumps that not only help massage my feet but really do make my entire body feel better.

If I need something less colorfully beach-y, I slip into a pair of our sandals from the Sunshine collection.  These have a flexible, ergonomic midsole – again, providing much needed arch support  – that are then stacked with layer upon layer of cushioning.   Heaven.

Great blog. Thanks for making a contest open to Canadians! 🙂 i’m finally back to running after over 3 months off. I had abdominal surgery and was told no exercise at all. I’ve run four times this past week for no more than 38 minutes. After the first two times, I hurt as much as after any marathon. Recovery is going strong and it’s going to be long. I’ve lost a lot of ground but so so happy to back running! 🙂 Keep inspiring! I need it!

I just signed up for my second Ironman for next October 2015 today.

  4. Cristina says:

Running my first half marathon this weekend, and another in 30 days. These look like they would be perfect for after!

  5. Rochester Marathon!! Bib #9 for marathon #9…..weird runner superstitions for the win 🙂

    Those shoes look so comfy!

    • ddennis says:

I’ve never gotten a single digit bib number. You must be extra special! And yes, it’s positively a sign of the greatness to come!

  6. Sharon says:

These are my favourite sandals. They were the only things I wore the entire summer and I can’t say enough good things about them.

  7. Jennifer says:

these look amazing for all post workouts! Would love them for the tired aching feet.

  8. Angelica De Lara says:

  11. Jacki says:

I’ve just gotten into walking and running, and I live in my flip-flops, so these would be perfect. This weekend we’re not running, but we will be heading to Toronto and will be doing a bunch of walking when we see Book of Mormon. Hopefully we’ll have enough time we won’t have to run to get there on time!

  12. ddennis says:

I loved the Book of Mormon. Enjoy!

My next race that’s coming up is the Santa Cruz Island Eco Half. I’m turning 40 & I’m celebrating it by running 14.5 miles from one end of Santa Cruz Island to the other. After hours of climbing up & down a rocky Mountain trail, those sandals would be quite the welcome reprieve!

  14. Kate Mathany says:

My next half marathon is in November. Bur Sur Half Marathon on Monterey, CA. Your sandals go with me to almost every race. They cushion my achy but victorious feet. 🙂 This race I get to run with my cousin. We haven’t seen each other for over 20 years.

    • ddennis says:

Kate — I’ve always wanted to run the Big Sur and to get to do it as a “family reunion” — that is so cool. Thanks for your kind words!

Myself & a few other mother runners from our running club, Stroller Warriors Parris Island, will be participating in this years Marine Corps Marathon. Eeek! I’m so excited and we have been training our little butts off & raising money for this race. This weekend we have our 18 miler and I’m pretty nervous about it. It’s my longest run yet, but I know I’ll survive as long as I have my gf’s right by my side. Marine Corps spouses rock!!

    • ddennis says:

So excited for you! My friend is doing the whole “50 marathons in 50 states” and I think the last one she’s going to do is the MCM in 2015. Which I told her I’d run with her. You’ll have to let me know what you think! Good luck with everything! (and yes, long runs without gf’s = impossible!)

  16. I am not running, but I am doing a mile a day for 27 days to benefit Children’s Hospitals – Miracle Marathon. By mid-October I will have walked a full marathon (okay, more, as I do more than a mile a day).

  17. LisaE says:

Great idea! And so pleased to see a contest like this that includes us Canadian runners! Thanks 🙂

  18. Poppy says:

In my first race ever I was so scared I’d be dead last. (Probably a flashback from gym class!) I was thrilled when I finished in the middle of the pack. I figure if I keep running until I’m 70 I am bound to win an age group medal eventually. To keep running, though, I’ve got to take care of my body. Starting with super cute recovery sandals!

  19. Jillian says:

I am working this weekend..or at least trying to with 3 kids underfoot. 🙂 Also, my oldest daughter has a volleyball game today and 2 softball games tomorrow. My son has a football game tomorrow too.

  20. Sarah says:

I’ve never been big on running, but I would love to change that. I need to make some huge changes to my lifestyle.

  21. Kay Lynn says:

My next event is the Color Run in San Diego.

  22. Margaret Imecs says:

I’m running the CIBC Run for the Cure 5k Toronto.

  23. I’m cross fitting & going to Apple picking this weekend!!

  24. Meena R says:

I’m heading on a run through the trails near my house this weekend, but I’m hoping to sign up for a 5K run soon!

  25. I’ll be doing an Ultraviolet 5k run in October.

  26. Debra D says:

These look great. I’d love them after a run. I’m charity running for Team Red White and Blue every day for the next 2 months so these would be awesome. Thanks

  27. I am running the Fort4Fitness half on Saturday.

  28. As a runner, my feet take a constant beating, so these looks great, I’d love to test them out post run since I usually just throw on my Reefs or TOMs.

This weekend (actually tomorrow) I’m heading to Madrid for work so I can’t wait to explore the city while I’m out running in the mornings!

  29. Runwright says:

As a runner, sometimes my feet hurt a lot when I’m doing non-running activities. I don’t have a race scheduled this month but It would be nice sandals to have these to look forward to after my next one.

  30. These really do look like the best post run sandals ever!! This weekend I hope to do a 14 miler in this gorgeous, fall weather! =)

  31. Flower says:

How cool you got to run with Alanis, love her! And , I’m super excited to learn more about your shoes!
